ABOUT The Circle  It began the summer of 2015, when a local store DM was struck by the “Life Happens” bug and was unable to continue running events in Lawrence, KS. A fateful conversation between the store owner and one of our founding members located a replacement DM, league events began in earnest, and the Circle grew steadily.  The name comes from the time-honored tradition of hanging out in the parking lot of a shop after game, standing in a rough circle, and de-briefing the events of the evening. Sometimes, things went really well. Other times, not so much. Every time, there were things to learn, to improve, to repeat, and to discuss. One such discussion on the workings of the Magic Circle spell lead to the comment “Who needs a circle of salt when you have us?” and the group of friends suddenly had a worthy moniker. Since then the Circle has grown to include about a dozen Dungeon Masters, 50-odd local players across 2 local game stores, 2 annual game conventions in Kansas City, an annual D&D Game Day, and the occasional ‘pop up’ event in Lawrence Kansas. The Name A ring of salt, in folklore, will protect you from all sorts of nasty things that go bump in the night. We also find that a ring of salty DMs protect our players from some of the less savory aspects of our favorite hobby. We are committed to providing a safe and open place for all interested players to play and have a good time.
